Book Character Parade

The more that you read, the more things that you'll know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

Dr Suess

Oscar was one of about 25 Cats in Hats during his book character parade at school! He's never been one for dressing up so it took some encouragement to get dressed in this for school this morning. He was really happy he did in the end. And I was impressed that the whole school, even those too-cool-for-school Grade 6s made the effort! Oscar is having such a great time in Prep and we were super lucky to get the best teacher in the whole wide world for his first year at big school - the lovely Miss T in the top picture dressed as Jack's mum from Jack and the Beanstalk.

Point and Shoot: Sunshine and sisters

I spent the weekend in Tassie enjoying the company of my big sisters and of all things, some sunshine. I find it incredible that I had to come to Devonport to get some warmth in my bones! I must have bought some home with me though as it has been lovely in Melbourne today - just perfect for the 7 (!!!) loads of washing I have done and managed to squeeze out on the clothesline.

I took Matilda with me and left the boys with daddy and it was really good for everyone. Even though I wasn't gone for long, it was long enough to appreciate all those little things at home that you dont realise - like your own bed and pillow! Matilda loved seeing all her big girl cousins and aunties and uncles but was super excited to see her big brother Oscar at the airport when we got home. She ditched daddy for him! While we were there I was able to have brunches at lovely cafes, shop at this lovely place buying some very cute babushka things and catch up with some of my besties.
This is Matilda with two of her lovely cousins farewelling us at the airport.

Ever worked at a supermarket?

I did. For about 10 years on and off. Along with the meagre Austudy allowance it helped keep me from starving at uni. But my word did I get sick of saying, how are you and not really meaning it! A friend at uni drew this great cartoon for me in the middle of one of our lectures. I remember laughing so hard I may well have peed myself. And in the end, I didn't blow up the manager... I just married him instead!

ps. sorry for the swearing!

Score!

Look what I've won tickets to go and see before everyone else! Yay! Now I just need a date.... or someone to babysit my children so I can actually go out with my husband! What a novelty that would be!

Thanks goes to Kelly at the Crafty Minx for winging tickets my way. All I had to do was say what my all time favourite movie was and why - clearly The Princess Bride. If you haven't seen it, find it and watch it! Then read the book. It's just as good!

Point and Shoot & At my house...

Is it cheating to join in on both things at once? I dont think so.... well, I hope it's ok anyway.
Point and shoot first up....
I think my little baby girl is growing up.

Monday, August 23rd, 8.30am

Those are two of the sweetest pony tails ever. She has the softest baby fine hair still but you have no idea how excited I am that it's long enough for ponies now! (Wonder how I got her to sit still long enough to get them in.... Play School!) Excited but freaking a bit cause babies dont have pony tails, big girls do!
And at my house...
I think we have finished breastfeeding! Friday night, she fell asleep early and missed out on her nighttime feed. I went out on Saturday night so daddy put her to bed and because I wasn't there, she clearly survived without it. This has happened before on the odd night I have escaped, but the following day she seems to remember she missed out on them and will come to me at some point fossicking down the front of my top! Sunday night, she sat at the bench with her brothers and had a cup of milk with them instead of coming to me.
So is that it then do you think? I have breastfed 2 and a bit children for about 40 months when all added together! I dont mind if she hasn't finished and comes back for more but I'm wondering whether to offer it to her not. Anyone want to come to my 'burn the maternity bra' party?
Join in with point and shoot or at my house. Or join me in cheating and whack them both together!

Baby obsessed...

I have my three babies and I am almost certain that I am Done... with a capital D! But I still love reading about them, hearing about new pregnancies, peeking at new little people in prams, hearing everyone's stories about how their little people came into being.
Want to put a smile on your dial and see and hear and read some wonderful things about small, tiny people?
  • Go here first and look at what Pacing the Panic Room has done with his maternity series. Scroll right through and make sure you see it right from the start!
  • I've only just discovered this on SBS - One born every minute. Best thing is - you can watch it on your laptop at ungodly hours of the night when your husbands away for work and you cant sleep!
  • And, I do believe you will need tissues for this one. For those who know Sheye's story, this only further proves what an incredibly brave and strong person she is.
