Nothing else matters...

Caught this at the end of Revenge tonight....

I'm not a Metallica fan but I love this version!

And did you hear the version of Somewhere over the Rainbow on The Voice tonight?  Gorgeous!

Oscar is 8!

We only booked the pool party for the water slide!

Isaac wasn't quite game enough to give it a whirl!

Inflatable pool fun!

Safety first!
Isaac gets a helping hand during water polo!
Angry Birds tableware (ebay!)
The finished Angry Birds Cake!  That poor tim tam wall struggled to stay upright in the car trip to the pool!

The best we could do with the official family photographs!

(Thanks for all the lovely comments on my icing angry birds in the previous post too!  The kids loved them!)

My creative space... Angry Birds

It's amazing what one can do with some ready to roll icing, some food dye and an Angry Birds app open on the iphone next to you...

Some are a little queer and crazy looking but they will serve their purpose once they get onto my cake.
There will be a wall made out of tim tams.
How on earth do I make the slingshot though???  Advice???

Creative types lurk over this way on Thursdays.

Finders Keepers... losers, weepers (especially if you missed out!)

I made it!  To Finders Keepers!  With 3 children!  I even managed to look at a few lovely crafty stalls and interact with a grown up or two!  I may also have hissed wildly at a naughty five year old who stood at the front entrance and declared loudly that this was the most boring place he'd ever been!  I may also have cringed embarrassingly at some comments from my MIL about how expensive some of the 'rubbishy craft' was! Said in front of stall holders!  Within their hearing distance!

Frankly, I could have spent a fortune but I could only ram so many people with my stroller to get closer to stalls before I started getting the evil glare.  And man it was busy!  Three, four and five deep in most places and whilst I was desperate to try a Taco from the Beatbox kitchen caravan out the front, those crowds you see in that first picture all had the same idea!

Just two of my cute purchases...
...teeny tiny babushka earings!

...gorgeous granny square tshirt!

I will totes be going again when it's in town!  Without children!  Or visiting MIL's!

A glass and a half of... the unexpected!

How often is that people truly surprise you?
In the preparation and planning for Oscar's Angry Birds party next week I went in search of those candy covered easter eggs that look like baby bird eggs.  Cause you know, those birds are angry cause the piggies stole their eggs and all!  I figured if I was able to find a few bags I could pack them up into clear bags, whack an angry bird picture on the top and my take home party treats would be done!

(I'll be using some of these FREE printables!)
I slowly realised after traipsing into eleventy supermarkets, I had left my easter egg hunt a wee bit late.  All that was left on the shelves where the daggy chocolates that never quite taste like chocolate.  As a last resort I rang the Cadbury factory (which just so happens to be about 10 minutes down the road from me) to see if they could tell me anyone who might still have said candy chocolate eggs in stock.  I had a lovely chat with a gorgeous lady called Angela who I told my Angry Bird Egg tale of woe too and she thus directed me to the onsite Cadbury shop in the hopes that they would have some.  A quick phone call later and yes they did, but I was most certainly not going to be able to purchase them as I was not staff, did not work in the Emergency Services and did not have a not-for-profit Community card that is sometimes handed out to kindergartens and the like for fundraising!  So there!  Cause that was basically her attitude!  Angela had said that if I discovered them in their shop to call her back and see what she could arrange which I promptly did wondering how on earth we were going to get past the scary shop lady.

This lovely lady, whom I had never met, instead offered to walk down to the shop in her lunchbreak, purchase the eggs and meet me in the carpark for a surreptitious handover!  How sweet is that!  It did feel like an illicit drug handover as she scurried through the security gate and I ventured forth out my my big black van with tinted windows!  I made sure I included a little crafty treat with my money and could not stop telling her that I thought she was an angel with chocolate wings!
Thanks Angela!!!

My creative space... Corner Granny Blanket

(one of these days I will learn to take decent photos that dont't inlcude using an iphone!)

Well, I finished it.  And I'm still not sure about it.  I looooved the whole concept of the corner granny when I first saw it, but I think I've gone with the wrong colour combination and the more I look at the original pattern colours the more I realise I liked the corner granny with those actual colours!  Damn and bugger!

Anyway, size wise it would clearly suit a brand new small person when they venture out and about in their pram and it's nice and soft as I used this lovely Panda cotton blend.

I'm thinking I might sell it if anyone wants it.  There are no new babies in my hood at the moment so I cant gift it to anyone I know.

Interested?

Boys are Hilarious. The End.

I've had some extra boys in the 'hood today!  I figured we'd get all our playdates over with in one big hit.  And we have... one big hit of toilet humour!

Imagine if you will that Rainbows and Lollipops song on repeat all day, except they don't sing Rainbows and Lollipops.  They sing 'Poo, poo, poopoopoo.  Poo, poo, poopoopoo!'  Repeatedly.

There was a group attempt at pushing me in the lake.  With the ducks.

No-one shared their milo icecream with me.

Dog poo was trekked into my house.  Onto my brown carpet.  I can smell it, I just can't see it.

And a child dropped the 'f' bomb... and it wasn't one of mine.

Forty in France

"At the age of 37,
she realised she'd never ride
through Paris in a sportscar
with the warm wind in her hair...."

But I will at 40!  Yesterday I was proactive enough to open my "Forty in France" account!  I am on my way peeps... with $50!

Donations Welcome!

Change your mind reversible skirts!

I have new favourite birthday skirts!  They are still simple and have taken less than an hour each!  I totes love them!  The dollies!  The ric rac!  The reversibility (we all know little ladies like to change their minds)!

The pattern is from 1, 2, 3 Sew and the author has a lovely blog called The Long Thread which I totally think you should go and visit since she is ever so generous and shares lots of crafty links and tutes and whatnot!

You can see Ellen's change your mind skirt from the book right here.  She has used beautiful Liberty fabric which my budget can't quite reach yet.  The fabric below was purchased from Spotlight yesterday (except for the black babushka dollies which was gifted to me).  The red and blue is from their Lisette range and the vintage dressing up ladies was just a lucky find in their quilting cottons.  Cute yes?!

These two are heading to Hobart to my lovely neices who have birthdays days apart from each other.  I am going to team them with a couple of plain tops each from Target and maybe some nice tights - outfit complete!  Present complete!
