First Day Photos

School and kinder resumed late last week and mother's everywhere breathed a collective sigh of relief, at least in this house they did!  School holidays are such a mixture of emotions.  Slower paced days, sleep-ins, playgrounds and other various activities are all fine and dandy but, oh, the incessant fighting between my three!  The whole Cruise Director hat I must put on to keep everyone entertained!  The picking up of lego!  The putting away of eleventy billion textas and pencils!

My little people go into Grade 3 (where apparently the Real Homework begins!), Grade 1 and Four year old kinder this year.  That means for 15 hours every week this mamma has no babies at home!

Don't worry.  I do remember when they really were all babies.  Here's Matilda all fresh and new, Isaac at 2 and Oscar at 4.  It is not a lie when they say that time really does fly.

Proud Parenting Moments #763

So, the boy's school gives out Student of the Month awards at assembly.  Not everyone gets one.  I've known parents who've had smalls at the school who have never recieved one.  Frankly, I find them a little annoying.  You have good kids who happily plod along getting good results, behaving themselves, playing nicely who never get an award.  Then you get the child who just about murders someone on a daily basis in the playground but one day, for five minutes, actually does what they are told and get awarded for it!  (Excuse my rant!)

Late last week we got the call asking that we might be needed at Monday morning's assembly as someone was getting the big call out!  I did ask Isaac's teacher whether he might be getting one for good spelling during his graffiti stint, but apparently no.

Trying his best at all times and being a nice friend to his classmates.
(such a spunky boy!)

And of course, there is no way Isaac could have been a sensible child who calmly walks out to the principal in front of the entire school to recieve his award.  Of course not.

Clearly, I have a class clown in the making!

Photo a day in October... angles

Angles on the school netball courts.

I visited a few schools today, dropping of my resume and talking myself up as a casual relief teacher.  I've got two degrees.  Figured I might as well start using them again!

And look what happened at the boys school assembly this morning...

A visit from Sub Zero, a Melbourne Cup winning racehorse.  He was very large.  I was desperate for him to poop on the sacred school sports stadium floor that us parents get lectures about whenever we wear our heels in there, but alas, the urge never came upon him!  I did get to stroke his lovely nose at which point he made that horsey noise with his lips and freaked me the hell out though.  Animal person I am not!

52 weeks of Grateful: Week 5

Do you know, I forgot to be grateful last week?!  Trust me when I say I was, I am sure grateful for many things!!!!
This week is supposed to be all about smiles in grateful land, and can I tell you I have seen a few!  Lots from mummy with the return of school, swimming, kinder next week and lots of routine!  Oh, how I love me some routine!

The biggest smile has to come from my middle boy, Isaac, who started Prep today.  Yesterday he told me that his head and his legs were ready for school but he wasn't so sure about his tummy.
Cute much!
I'm guessing he had a huge case of butterflies!

Prepare to photobombed with my cute boy and his gorgeous cheeky grin!

Getting a sticker straight away for being a most excellent bag unpacker!
Finding his seat and table.
What's a boy to do but head straight for the dinosaurs!

Have you seen lots of smiles in your week?

This week I'm grateful for...

It's been too long since I have joined in with Maxabella and her wonderful grateful posts.  The thing is I started a part-time job which is mostly work on Thursday and Friday nights and Saturdays too just for fun!  So unless I am super organised with pre-blogging and then scheduling posts I kinda miss the boat. And I do miss it.  So much so I have added to my Christmas wishlist - I would love one of these Gratitude books from Kikki K and praps one of those instant polaroid cameras too for quick happy snaps of the things I'm grateful for which can then be pasted into the book!  Fabulous idea, yes?

Iphone snaps this week include these two beauties!  Isaac had school uniform dress up day at kinder and he was so excited.  Seeing all those little people in their too big uniforms was really funny.  Isaac has had such a wonderful two years at kinder but is totally ready for big school with his brother.  Today we found out he who his teacher is (she's fabulous!), where his classroom is and when he starts.  The countdown has begun!

And, oh my, how the tears began when I popped my poppet into her too big kinder t-shirt for kinder orientation this afternoon.  My tears, not hers!  I am generally not a cryer when sending the smalls off to school but this third and last one is breaking my heart a little.  I texted my husband this picture asking him where my baby had gone and praps suggesting another one might be in order...!  I'm thinking he thinks he's pretty safe since we recently paid a small fortune to my gynaecologist to ensure there'd be no more (a whole other story about why it costs everyone else $35 to get that lovely Mirena IUD  and yet ended up costing us almost a $1000!!!)!

This week I'm grateful for these small people and these big school milestones.  I feel really lucky that they are gorgeous kids, who go to gorgeous schools and have gorgeous teachers that look after them when I'm not!

Oh my....

Where does the time go? My big boy finished his second term of Prep today and came home bearing his first school report and his first official school photos! His report says lovely things about him which is nice too.
And just for a lark, here is his mummy and daddy when they were in Prep too.
